Stihl MS250 in 16 inch pine
This is my father's Stihl MS250. I borrowed it to do some limbing. When I picked up up it had a round tooth chain that was not very agressive. I put it on this log and cut for about 15 seconds and made it about 1/3 of the way through. Took it back to the shop, and it was only turning 11800 RPM. Cleaning the filter got it to 13500. A new filter got it to 15800 (yikes!). Richened the high to the stops and it still was turning 14800. But it actually four strokes nicely up to about 15500 RPM where it start to smooth. It wasn't even completely smooth at 15800 RPM. I also found the the old filter did not fit well and dust was getting by. A new seemingly identical filter fit very snug so I'm guessing that with heat cycles the plastic filter warps. I put a Windsor chissel chain on it and filmed this cut. Probably 2 or 3 times faster than it was when I got it.
